本校位於頭份市區北側，鄰近頭份交流道、建國路及中興路等交通要道，地處頭份市中樞地帶，屬於典型的市區型學校。學區涵蓋建國、成功、山下、後庄、合興、文化、忠孝、自強及頭份等里，校舍佔地面積達26,698平方公尺。
本校於民國82年5月28日獲准成立籌備處，並由頭份國中陳秋沐校長兼任籌備主任。民國84年8月1日正式招生，陳鎮祥校長擔任首任校長。歷任校長依序為：第二任鄭福源校長（93年2月至96年7月）、第三任陳鎮祥校長（96年8月至98年7月）、第四任謝金暾校長（98年8月至104年7月）、第五任賴松蓬校長（104年8月至105年7月）、第六任張慶應校長（105年8月至109年7月）、第七任林秋嬋校長（109年8月至113年7月）。
現任方麗萍校長自113年8月起接掌校務，堅持「學生第一，教學優先」的核心理念，深信「教育是一個用生命感動生命，用智慧啟發智慧的志業」。方校長以「學生學習為中心，教師專業為優先，社區共榮為依歸」為目標，持續推動「國際領航、科技創新」的特色課程，致力培育「有禮貌、守紀律、愛學習」的建國學子，並打造「富而好禮」的建國大業。
Our school is located on the northern side of Toufen City, near major transportation routes including the Toufen Interchange, Jianguo Road, and Zhongxing Road. Positioned at the heart of Toufen City, it is a typical urban school. The school district covers the neighborhoods of Jianguo, Chenggong, Shanxia, Houzhuang, Hexing, Wenhua, Zhongxiao, Ziqiang, and Toufen. The campus covers an area of 26,698 square meters.
The preparatory office for the school was approved on May 28, 1993, with Principal Chen Qiumu of Toufen Junior High School concurrently serving as the director. The school officially began enrolling students on August 1, 1995, with Principal Chen Zhenxiang serving as the first principal.
The succession of principals is as follows:
Second Principal: Zheng Fuyuan (February 2004 to July 2007)
Third Principal: Chen Zhenxiang (August 2007 to July 2009)
Fourth Principal: Xie Jintun (August 2009 to July 2015)
Fifth Principal: Lai Songpeng (August 2015 to July 2016)
Sixth Principal: Zhang Qingying (August 2016 to July 2020)
Seventh Principal: Lin Qiuchan (August 2020 to July 2024)
The current principal, Fang Liping, assumed office in August 2024. She upholds the core philosophy of "Students First, Teaching Priority," believing that education is a vocation that touches life with life and inspires wisdom with wisdom. Principal Fang aims to place student learning at the center, prioritize teacher professionalism, and foster community harmony. She continuously advances specialized programs such as "International Leadership and Technological Innovation," dedicating efforts to cultivate Jianguo students who are polite, disciplined, and eager to learn, building a legacy of excellence and courtesy.
